Ever wonder what WGN stands for? World's Greatest Newspaper. That gives you an idea of the esteem in which the Chicago Tribune is held, not just in this city, but all over the country. And talk about a history. The first edition rolled off the presses in 1847. Sure, the paper's most famous moment might be an incorrect headline -- "Dewey Defeats Truman" -- but even that mistake is just a blip when compared to more than a century of award-winning journalistic excellence. The Tribune says it isn't just the best newspaper in Chicago -- it also lays claim to being one of the best in the world.

  • Really? Trib historically has been the best, no doubt. Too bad they are slaughtering their own product in the name of 'saving money'. Would you buy a six-pack of beer if they 'rightsized' it to 5 bottles to save money on glass? There is no 'best' in Chicago anymore. Wednesday, Jun 24 at 5:41 PM
  • Kathi First they put the TV Guide in the Saturday paper, now they are discontinuing the Sunday magazine. These changes are ruining the paper. I canceled my subscription. Wednesday, Jun 24 at 1:50 AM

  • Jean P The TV Guide is now in the SATURDAY Tribune. They're trying to get you to buy both Sat. and Sun. Tribs now. SO we get the SUNDAY HERALD for a TV guide, plus their good features. Thursday, Jun 18 at 5:30 AM
