Carmakers want to avoid litigation over product defects

Chrysler got it and now GM wants it, too: language that will allow the carmakers to walk away from both past and future accidents caused by defects in their products.

Anyone buying a GM car today -- or anyone who bought a Chrysler before its bankruptcy was finalized -- will be affected.
