Looking for something to do on Christmas completely un-holiday related? Sure, most places are closed on December 25th, but not the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies.
And the best thing is, you don't have to be Jewish to attend their 11th annual Something Else! A Community Festival. This event has been so successful (up to 2,500 attendees), they've expanded it.
Among this year's lineup:
- Circus Boy: Known for his wit and fire-eating talent.
- Ballet Folklorico: Locally based dance troupe that performs traditional and ceremonial routines.
- Rope Warrior: Known for his amazing ability to use a jump rope.
- Sandi Sylver: A storyteller, ventriloquist and songstress.
- Jason Kollum: Master juggler.
Also, Tum Balalaika will perform his signature international style, which includes Russian, Yiddish, Gypsy, Ukrainian, and Romanian Klezmer music.
For the little ones, there's a hands-on Art Activity Center, where they can get their hands dirty.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there's a $10 per family entrance fee.
