Most of us take a fairly simple approach to Facebook. We chat with our friends and update our status updates on a regular basis, but a lot of FB users love to use those nifty applications that allow you to do everything from sending a virtual gift to throwing a virtual sheep at someone.

But who are the tech-heads who create those apps? And what's the next level of usability we can expect to see on our Facebook pages in the future?

Find out at the 2009 Facebook Developer Garage on Friday at the Bucktown headquarters of the company Where I've Been (1927 N. Milwaukee).

All Chicago developers, web designers, entrepreneurs, marketing professionals and technology buffs interested in social networking are invited to attend the event which will be held from 7 to 11 p.m.

Luke Shepard, A University of Chicago alum who is a Facebook team member, will speak at the event. He'll also do a technical session on how to build a Facebook Connect implementation. If you have no idea what that means, this is probably not for you.

The event is free and food and drinks will be provided. Click here for more information.
